Between 11th – 15th August the Product tab will be open for you to purchase artworks from the Student Exhibition - Please ensure you read Shipping Terms before purchasing.

100 Hour Film Festival

Calling all aspiring filmmakers and storytellers! OUSA Student Support is thrilled to announce the 100 Hour Film Festival, an exhilarating challenge designed for creative students passionate about cinema. Inspired by the renowned 48 Hour Film Project, this festival offers a unique opportunity to showcase your filmmaking prowess under time constraints.
🎥 Overview:
Participants will have 100 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film. Specific criteria will be provided at the kickoff on Monday the 11th of August.
🎞️ Screening Event:
All submitted films will be showcased at a special screening event, where audiences can appreciate the diverse talents and stories crafted during the festival. Details about the screening date and venue will be announced closer to the event.

Art Week Colouring Competition
When: 11th – 15th August
Where: Central Library, Under the Stairs
Want to get creative in a laid-back kind of way? Drop by our cosy colouring nook and bring some art to life!
Whether you're a casual doodler or a detail-loving perfectionist, this is your chance to unwind, have fun, and maybe even win a prize! Materials provided – all you need to bring is yourself.
When your masterpiece is done, just write you contact details on the back and drop it in the collection box to be in-to-win!
Or don't, and just take it home and put it on your wall - that's fine too!
Annual Photo Comp
Submissions open May 7th, close 5pm August 1st
Works displayed 11th - 15th August online and with the main Exhibition in the Link
This isn't the World Press Photo Awards, or the Sony World Photography Awards, not even the National Geographic Photo Contest. We won't be using Kodak Ultra Premium paper to print your images on, or getting Mike Hollman into judge the competition. Images displayed during Art Week and online on Pixieset, where you can vote for your favourtite! (link to come) and winning entries may be published in the Critic, or through our Art Week Socials. Feedback isn't given to entrants, this is just for fun, any any photos you may have taken over your lifetime are welcome!

You can enter up to 2 poems to be judged, and displayed as part of the OUSA Art Week in August.

Electronic Art Competition
Submissions open May 7th, close 5pm August 1st
Embark on a journey into the digital realm. From digital illustration, to animation and film, from soundscapes to photography. Express your creativity, and use this competition as your canvas to redefine what is possible in the electronic arts. So long as it fits into the theme below, and has been created by you, you can enter it in the competition
Rules:
You have until 5pm Friday 1st August to enter up to three artworks. These must be Electronic Art (see definition below), and your own work.
The theme for 2025 is:
Threads of Connection
A winner and runner-up from each theme will be chosen and receive prizes!
This is just for fun, because you're all amazing to us. You don't have to be a pro to enter, anyone and anything is welcome!
By entering these works you allow OUSA to use your artwork to show at OUSA Art Week and anywhere else we see as relevant to Art Week and future Promo for the competition.

Mini Mosaics: Craft Room Preview
When: Tuesday 12th August 2pm - 6pm
Where: Clubs & Socs Craft Room
Come along for a relaxed, hands-on taster of our brand new Craft Room!
Join us for a free drop-in workshop from 2pm - 6pm on Tuesday 12th August where you’ll get to make your own mosaic coaster or mini masterpiece, enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, or Milo, and be among the first to explore the space.
Whether you're into crafting or just curious, this is a perfect chance to meet the team, ask questions about the space, and learn how you can book it for your own projects or join future workshops.
No experience needed, no booking required (free) — just bring your creativity!
The Craft Room can be entered from the back carpark behind the Clubs and Socs Building - the door will be open, so just follow the signs! pop in anytime between 2pm - 6pm.
Brush & Bevvies: Pottery Edition

Unleash your inner artist (or just vibe with some paint + mates).
As part of Art Week 2025, come along and design and paint your own custom ceramic mug and coaster! Whether you're doodling, going full Van Gogh, or just in it for the vibes, this is your chance to create something totally you.

A twist on our usual Radio One Market Days. We call all artists, both students and those in the Dunedin Community to register for a stall and sell your wares! Whether jewelry, original prints or handmade clothing. Show Dunedin that shopping local is worth it!
Don’t have anything to sell? Not an Artist? Come along and support the Dunedin Art Community, either by purchasing items or just coming and having a chat with local artists.
Intro to Linoprint
When: Thursday 14th August 5:30pm
Where: Clubs & Socs Craft Room
Discover the art of linocut printmaking in this fun, beginner-friendly workshop! You'll learn how to design, carve, and print your own unique linoprint artwork.
Led by a local printmaker, this session will guide you through the full process—from transferring your design to carving your lino block, to inking and hand-printing your final piece. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary.

Motion Sickness: Reimagined

Where: The Playhouse Theatre
Back by popular demand – and reimagined for one night only.
After an enormously successful run at the Dunedin Fringe Festival, Motion Sickness returns to the stage with a bold new twist. Featuring a mix of original choreography and dynamic new work by members of the Otago Dance Association (ODA), this fresh reimagining builds on the success of the original show while pushing the boundaries even further.
Co-Directors Charlie Butler and Maddison Gay once again fuse movement with meaning, blending contemporary dance styles and New Zealand Sign Language to create an immersive, innovative performance like no other.
Whether you're seeing Motion Sickness for the first time or returning for more – this one-off Art Week event is not to be missed.
